HOSPITALITY AND DEEP LOVE

1Peter 4:8-11

Hospitality is such a wonderful privilege, an enriching and blessed opportunity for fellowship! Of course it is not easy; the challenges and/or obstacles have been clearly uncovered for us to rightly offer and practice it. We have no excuse especially that we know God is pleased with its exercise. Pastor Mbewe really did a great job. Let us indeed keep our homes open!

For those who are married, the spouse is key in ensuring success. The husband has to be well involved from preparation even to the point of packing whatever could have been used. Blessed are those who have maids to help; but remember, visitors love to eat what you especially prepare.

The way you receive the stranger(s) /visitor(s) is very important and telling, so is how they leave and you see them off. When all is done, watch your attitude, be conscious of your observations and comments. Test them for grumbling. It is easy to hide behind certain “good principles”, including waste consciousness. It is also easy to sin and justify it! If you are mature or spiritual, you will most likely discover your sin in spite of its subtleness and repent; and cherish only the Glorious Riches of Grace, blessing our Great God. This cannot be missed when there is open sincerity.

Coupling it with one of the lessons for me personally from 1st Corinthians is the injunction to do everything in love and to glorify God in all we do. It is in this regard that I want to share also the piece bellow that I wrote some years ago!

DEEPER LOVE

Is what I want to share

I will give from the source of Love Himself

It is free for the taking

But I confess my love is infinitely inadequate though practical

Sadly sure no one’s deeper love can meet my need of it more than He does

Still, Deeper Love is what I’ve got and He provides a check

I have no fear and no regret for any attempt to share Deeper Love

Through difficulty, pain and disappointment, little or plenty or sorrow

I have no plans to economise it or manipulate anyone

As I know it’s God who works it to have a hold on someone.

Speak, oh yeah sing, live and die in Deeper Love!
