A gift to KBC Youths and Dedicated to the December Camp


GOD OF MY SOUL


The thought to be helpful to the youths who finish high school and normally wait for results before going further, crept into my mind early this year or late last year as I chatted with one of them. It has been flashing and lingering almost as often as I see young people.

Early last week while thinking about making progress on a proposal, a notion concerning the human mind popped up with a heavy impression as I pondered on it. It was that the mind is the greatest asset any person has! But my conviction is, the mind is one of the greatest assets a human being has.

As my mind was spinning on this particular day, a poem that I had originally written to be a song during one of my holy meditations, God of My Soul, flashed repeatedly. I quickly got a pen and notebook and silently uttered a prayer as I imagined young people singing at the youth camp. The silent prayer was that the fruit of my creative writing of the song would be a gift to the youths at the camp, for the glory of our God and the blessing of the Church! And thus the song was born and completed after some hours.

PUT ASIDE MY WILL,
FREE FROM CONCERN

O let me be, God of my soul
Wholly to thee, full of your will

I DEVOTE ALL THAT I AM AND I HAVE TO YOU
LORD JESUS MY SOUL, KEEP IN YOUR LOVE

Wholly to thee, full of your love

THEN BY YOUR GRACE TO BE, BY YOUR GRACE TO DO
AND TO REACH ALL YOU WANT ME TO

Wholly to thee, full of your grace

LET NOT DECEPTIONS AND SNARES AND TRIALS
WITHIN, WITHOUT, OVERCOME ME
O let me be, God of my soul
Wholly to thee, full of your power

WHEN IN GLORY PERFECTED, I’LL SEE YOU AS YOU ARE
PRIVILEGED TO HALLOW YOUR HOLY NAME

Wholly to thee, full of praise

ETERNALLY GRATEFUL, A BLESSED SOUL
AMID A GREAT MATITUDE, BOUGHT BY CHRIST
